Add Blocks in the Web Editor

This guide explains how to use the Add Block dialog inside the Admin Web Editor.

Use it when you want to:

• insert a new block into a page
• browse available block sources from one place
• search for a block by name or type
• narrow results before inserting a block

Before You Start

Open the Web Editor first from System > Platform Customization.

Then open the add-block window from a + insert point in the page structure or the canvas.

What The Add Block Dialog Is For

The Add Block dialog is the main place for inserting new content blocks into a page.

OpenMirai uses this window whenever you choose to add a block at a specific position.

This helps you insert new content exactly where you need it instead of adding it first and moving it later.

Understand The Main Parts Of The Dialog

The add-block window can include:

• tabs such as Blocks, Libraries, Partials, and HTML
• extra custom tabs when available
• a search field
• group filters or chips
• a grid of block cards

Each part helps you narrow down the available choices before you insert something into the page.

Use The Tabs

The tabs help you switch between different block sources.

Common tabs can include:

• Blocks
• Libraries
• Partials
• HTML

Some builder setups can also show additional custom tabs.

Use the tabs when you already know the kind of content source you want to use.

Search For A Block

Use the search field when you want to find a block more quickly.

OpenMirai can search blocks by name or type, depending on the current tab.

This is especially useful when the block list is large and you do not want to browse everything manually.

In some builder setups, a keyboard shortcut can jump directly to the search input.

When that shortcut is available, OpenMirai places focus in the search field right away so you can start typing without selecting the input first.

Filter By Group

The add-block dialog can also show group chips or similar filters.

Use these when you want to narrow the results to one category of blocks before choosing from the grid.

This can make it easier to find the right section when you already know the type of content you want to add.

Insert A Block

To insert a block, select one of the block cards in the grid.

OpenMirai then adds that block to the page at the position you selected before opening the dialog.

This is the main flow for building out a page section by section.

What Happens When No Results Match

If your search or filter removes all available results, OpenMirai can show an empty-results state.

When this happens, clear or change the search text or filters and try again.

What Happens If Adding Is Not Available

In some situations, OpenMirai can show a warning when the add action is not available.

This can happen when the current position or current state does not allow the new block to be inserted.

If you see this warning, review where you opened the dialog from and try another valid insert point if needed.

Best Practices

To work faster with the add-block dialog:

• open it from the exact place where the new content should appear
• use tabs first if you already know the source type
• use search when you know part of the block name or block type
• use filters when you want to narrow a large list

These habits make page building much more predictable.
