Reuse Library Blocks in the Web Editor
Learn how to use the Libraries tab in the Admin Web Editor to browse reusable blocks, search and filter results, and insert saved sections back into a page.
This guide explains how to use the Libraries tab inside the Admin Web Editor.
Use it when you want to:
- reuse a saved block or prebuilt section
- switch between available library sources
- search a library more quickly
- recover from loading or empty-result states
Before You Start
Open the Web Editor first from System > Platform Customization.
Then open the add-block window from a + insert point in the page structure or the canvas.
After that, open the Libraries tab.
What The Libraries Tab Is For
The Libraries tab helps you insert reusable content instead of building the same section again from the beginning.
This is useful when you already have saved blocks, prebuilt sections, or reusable design pieces that should appear on more than one page.
Understand The Main Parts Of The Libraries Tab
The Libraries tab can include:
- a library source selector
- a search field
- a group list or group filters
- a preview card grid
These tools help you narrow down reusable content before you insert it.
Choose A Library Source
Use the library selector when more than one reusable source is available.
This lets you switch between different collections of reusable blocks before you start searching.
Choose the source that best matches the kind of section you want to add.
Search The Library
Use the search field when you want to find reusable content more quickly.
OpenMirai can search library items by details such as:
- block name
- label
- description
- group
This is especially helpful when the library contains many saved sections.
If the search field shows a clear icon, use it when you want to reset the current search quickly and return to the full result list.
Narrow Results By Group
Use the group list or group filters when you want to limit the results to one type of reusable content.
This can make browsing easier when the current library source contains many different section styles.
Insert A Library Block
To insert a reusable block, select one of the preview cards.
OpenMirai then adds that library block to the page at the position you selected before opening the add-block window.
In some builder setups, you may also be able to drag a library card directly into the canvas where that interaction is supported.
What To Expect While A Block Is Being Added
When you insert a reusable block, OpenMirai can show a temporary adding state on that card.
This helps you confirm that the block is being inserted and that the builder is still processing the action.
What Happens While The Library Is Loading
Before the reusable blocks finish loading, OpenMirai can show a loading skeleton in the Libraries tab.
This is normal while the selected library source is being prepared.
What Happens If No Results Match
If the search or group filters remove all available results, OpenMirai can show a No matching blocks state.
When this happens, clear or adjust the search and filters, then try again.
What Happens If The Library Fails To Load
If the selected library source cannot be loaded, OpenMirai can show a failure state with a Retry action.
Use Retry when you want the builder to attempt loading that library source again.
Best Practices
To work faster with the Libraries tab:
- choose the correct library source first
- use search before scrolling through a long list
- use group filters to reduce visual noise
- reuse tested sections instead of rebuilding them when possible
These habits can make large page-building tasks much faster.
What To Do Next
- insert the reusable section and review it on the page
- edit the inserted block if the reused content needs page-specific changes
- return to the block menu if you want to save another useful section to the library
