Fix Right-Side Editing Problems In The Web Editor
Learn what to do when you cannot edit anything on the right side of the Web Editor, identify whether the issue is no block selection, limited access, or a hidden sidebar, and restore the correct editing state.
This guide explains what to do when the right side of the Admin Web Editor does not let you edit the page.
Use it when:
- the right panel says Select a block to edit
- the right panel shows a permission warning instead of controls
- the right side seems missing or does not respond the way you expect
Start By Checking Whether A Block Is Selected
The most common reason the right panel looks unavailable is that no block is selected yet.
When this happens, OpenMirai can show a message such as Select a block to edit instead of the normal editing controls.
Select A Block From The Canvas Or Outline
If you see the selection message:
- click the section directly in the canvas
- or open Outline and select the block from the page tree
After you select a block, the right panel updates to match that block.
This is usually all you need when the panel looks empty but the editor is otherwise working normally.
Check Whether The Panel Is Showing A Permission Warning
If a warning message appears instead of editing controls, your current account may not have access to change that part of the page from this editor.
When that happens:
- review the message shown in the right panel
- confirm you are using the correct account or workspace
- contact the person who manages editing access for your platform if the restriction should be removed
This kind of warning is different from the empty selection state because the panel is present, but editing is intentionally limited.
Check Whether The Right Sidebar Is Hidden
If the right side seems to be missing entirely, the sidebar may be hidden or collapsed.
This can happen when:
- the workspace is in a more canvas-focused layout
- only the left panel is currently shown
- a focused editing state temporarily hides the right side
Use the sidebar visibility controls in the builder to show the right panel again.
Use This Quick Check Order
If you are not sure what is wrong, check in this order:
- confirm that a block is selected
- look for a permission warning message
- make sure the right sidebar is visible
Most right-side editing problems are caused by one of these three conditions.
What To Expect In Each State
You may see one of these normal builder states:
- an informational message when no block is selected
- a permission warning when your access is limited
- no right panel at all when the sidebar is hidden
These states help explain why the normal editing tools are not currently available.
What To Do Next
- select the correct block first if the panel is waiting for a selection
- restore the right sidebar if it is hidden
- ask for updated access if the panel shows a permission restriction
- continue with Block Settings or Styling after the right panel is available again
